T.N. Govt. Hikes Tasmac Employees’ Salaries by 25%

On Tuesday, Minister Vignesh announced a 25% salary hike for Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation employees, aiming to curb corruption by removing incentives for staff to charge customers above the Maximum Retail Price.
Frequent complaints involve staff charging an extra Rs 10 per bottle above the MRP, prompting officials to believe the pay revision will improve transparency and accountability at retail outlets.
Speaking at the Secretariat, Minister Vignesh detailed that Assistant Salesmen will earn ₹17,925, Salesmen ₹19,413, and Supervisors ₹22,313, marking the first pay revision for staff in nearly 20 years.
Chief Minister Joseph Vijay directed that ESI benefits be extended to employees, while the State also extended bar licenses by two months to address long-standing staff demands for medical support.
Earlier this year, Chief Minister Vijay directed closure of 717 liquor outlets within 500 metres of schools, temples, and bus stands as part of broader reforms to reduce alcohol access in sensitive public areas.
