Taipei (AFP) Jan 8, 2026 Taiwan has temporarily grounded its fleet of F-16 fighter jets for inspection, the defence minister said Thursday, as the search continued for a pilot whose aircraft apparently crashed into the sea. The pilot is believed to have ejected from his single-seat F-16V off Taiwan's east coast on Tuesday around 70 minutes after taking off for a routine training mission, according to the Air Force.
