T-Mobile rolls out broadband with Starlink backup to expand business customer base
The service combines 5G and satellite backup to give businesses a 99.99% uptime guarantee and one managed contract, T-Mobile said.
- On Tuesday, T-Mobile launched SuperBroadband, a business internet service combining its 5G network with SpaceX's Starlink satellite constellation to serve companies operating in remote locations.
- Expanding on a partnership dating to 2022, the offering unites T-Mobile's 5G network with Starlink's fleet of more than 10,000 satellites to maintain performance during outages and network disruptions.
- The service reaches every ZIP code in the U.S. and includes a financially backed uptime guarantee. "We've built a solution that's resilient by design," said André Almeida, president of growth and emerging businesses at T-Mobile.
- Plans start at $250 per month on a three-year commitment, including equipment and installation. Aramark Destinations is already implementing the service to standardize connectivity across remote locations.
- The launch precedes T-Mobile's first-quarter earnings report Tuesday afternoon, as the company competes with rivals like Verizon offering business fixed wireless access and competitors planning nationwide fiber expansion through 2026.
