T-Mobile opens India tech centre, to hire nearly 1,000 by 2027

The centre will build software, cloud and cybersecurity capabilities as T-Mobile expands its technology footprint outside the United States.

  • On Thursday, U.S. telecom operator T-Mobile inaugurated a global capability center in Hyderabad, India, planning to employ nearly 1,000 people by 2027.
  • Chandra Gupta, Vice President of Information Technology at TMUS Global Solutions, cited Hyderabad's "innovation capabilities and an established ecosystem" as reasons for the location, which hosts more than 450 GCCs.
  • Leasing 250,000 square feet, the facility focuses on software engineering, product development, data analytics, and cybersecurity; Telangana Industries and IT Minister Sridhar Babu said it reinforces the state's position as a preferred destination.
  • This expansion reflects a broader trend where GCCs in India have evolved from low-cost outsourcing hubs into strategic innovation centers, with two-thirds of new centers choosing Bengaluru or Hyderabad according to Nasscom-Zinnov.
  • Engineers at the facility will drive next-generation digital solutions including Artificial Intelligence and cloud technologies, strengthening T-Mobile's footprint outside the United States.
