Syrian goes on trial in Germany over IS atrocities
A Syrian man went on trial in Germany on Thursday accused of involvement in bloody crimes committed by the Islamic State group in Syria, including beheadings. In January 2025 the police in North Rhine-Westphalia arrested a Syrian. He is said to have belonged to a unit of the jihadist militia of Islamic State, which killed several people in Syria. Now the trial for alleged war crimes begins in Düsseldorf.
A Syrian who fled to Germany is said to have been involved in torture and killings in the ranks of ISIS. His defender says the accusations are wrong.
