WAEC Releases 2026 Results, Announces Candidates’ Performance

WAEC said 94.05% of results have been processed and 167,486 candidates face withheld results over examination malpractice.

  • On Wednesday, The West African Examinations Council released the 2026 Computer-Based WASSCE results in Lagos, with 1,200,514 of 1,950,726 candidates obtaining credits in five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.
  • Head of the WAEC Nigeria National Office, Amos Josiah Dangut, noted this year's examination, held between April 24 and June 19, marked the second time the Council conducted the Computer-Based WASSCE for School Candidates.
  • WAEC withheld the results of 167,486 candidates, representing 8.59%, over examination malpractice. Dangut said supervisors and invigilators caught aiding students have been apprehended and face sanctions through State Ministries.
  • Among the 1.2 million candidates who passed English Language and Mathematics, 558,883 were male and 641,631 were female. Overall participation across Nigeria totaled 953,459 males and 997,267 females.
  • Dangut, during his third and final briefing as Head of WAEC Nigeria, reported 1,834,695 candidates have received fully processed results, while 116,031 remain under review.
