Some 2,200 relatives of alleged jihadists of some 50 nationalities are still in a camp in north-eastern Syria under Kurdish control despite an agreement to integrate Kurdish institutions into the Syrian state.
The Roj camp houses families of about 50 nationalities, including some 40 French families. Its administration remains Kurdish despite the integration agreement with Damascus, and its transfer to central power will take time, according to Syrian officials.
In February, more than 5,700 people, alleged members of the Islamic State, were transferred to Iraq by the US military.
