The Swiss authorities have extended until March 4, 2028 support measures for people fleeing the war in Ukraine, but with restrictions.
Switzerland will retain temporary protection status (Status S) for Ukrainians who left Ukraine due to a full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation until March 4, 2028, but will narrow the rules for its acquisition. — Ukrinform.
The Federal Council restricts the status of S: Those who fail to fulfil their military duties in Ukraine will no longer receive protection from now on. The new regulation will enter into force as early as Thursday.
Refugees from Ukraine with protection status S should be able to stay safely in Switzerland until March 2028. At the same time, the Federal Council has decided to make a major change: Conscript men will be excluded from status under certain conditions in the future.
