Ukraine: Protection status S will be lifted in March 2028 at the earliest
The Swiss government has extended the S protection status granted to those who left the country due to the war in Ukraine until March 4, 2028. The decision is based on the failure to achieve lasting stability in Ukraine and coordination with the EU. A new requirement for fulfilling military service has been introduced for new applications.

The S status granted to Ukrainians will not be lifted until 4 March 2028. On Wednesday, the Federal Council extended this status by one year, considering that the situation in Ukraine did not seem to be stable for a long time. However, restrictions will affect some people.
