Large forest fires in Southern Europe and continued unrest in the Middle East do not seem to have scared Swedish travelers. Air traffic abroad increased, according to Swedavia's figures for July. “We are seeing a strong increase in most destinations,” says Elizabeth Axtelius at Swedavia.
The ten airports managed by Swedavia welcomed just over 3.3 million passengers in July 2026, an increase of almost 2% over a year. This growth is driven almost exclusively by international travel, an increase of 4%, while domestic traffic falls by 13% under the combined effect of reduced supply and weakened demand.
