Swatara Township judge who died while cycling leaves legacy of athleticism, integrity

Michael J. Smith’s legacy is as diverse as his wardrobe: a judge by day, cyclist and hockey fan at heart, and someone who always made time for family and friends throughout his nearly 50 years of public service.Smith, 72, died on July 4 after collapsing on his bike in South Londonderry Township, Lebanon County. The Dauphin County Coroner’s Office said he died of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease.
