Swat team deployed during police incident near England World Cup venue days before crucial Croatia clash
Police said a weapon was produced and no injuries were reported after officers responded to a domestic dispute and detained the suspect.
On Monday, Arlington Police deployed a SWAT team to a residential area near Dallas Stadium, positioning units just over a mile from the venue hosting England's World Cup match on Wednesday.
Officers responded to a domestic dispute between a male and female at a home address, where the female resident had barricaded herself inside with additional occupants.
An officer at the scene described the situation as "pretty serious" after a suspect allegedly brandished a weapon, prompting police to deploy an armoured BearCat vehicle and drones.
Police confirmed the incident bears no connection to the World Cup or the stadium's upcoming fixtures, with the suspect now in custody and the investigation ongoing.
The 80,000 capacity stadium will host The Three Lions' match against Croatia on Wednesday, with the venue remaining central to the tournament through the coming weeks.
