Suspect shot by police near Fremont elementary school
The suspect led police on a vehicle and foot chase before being shot; three others were arrested for burglaries linked to a multi-city crime spree in 2025.
- On Saturday night, a Fremont Police Department officer shot and injured a robbery suspect during a pursuit near Alta Drive and Racine Avenue, around 10 p.m.
- Fremont Police Department units were assisting local Bay Area law enforcement to arrest a group of suspects linked to vehicle and residential burglaries in 2025, and after the suspects returned to Fremont, detectives attempted arrests, triggering the vehicle pursuit.
- The vehicle was disabled near Alta Drive and Racine Avenue, four suspects fled on foot, and three suspects were arrested on suspicion of burglary.
- The wounded suspect was taken to an area hospital and will `require further care`, and the officer involved was treated for minor injuries and released, Fremont police said.
- Fremont police declined to comment on the circumstances leading to the gunfire and the officer's injuries, which were also withheld.
