Suspect shot by police near Fremont elementary school

- The wounded suspect was taken to an area hospital and will `require further care`, and the officer involved was treated for minor injuries and released, Fremont police said.

FREMONT — A suspect was injured in a police shooting Saturday night, authorities said. The incident occurred around 9:45 p.m. in the area of Alta Drive and Racine Avenue, said Sgt. Kim Macdonald of the Fremont Police Department. The injured suspect was taken to a local hospital, Macdonald added. Police did not release additional details Sunday.
