Police Suspect Arson in Car Fire in Northeast Las Vegas
A driver who did not yield to a stopped emergency vehicle hit a trooper while fleeing a traffic stop; the injured officer was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.
- On Thursday, the Colorado State Patrol pulled over a driver of a white four-door BMW M235i on Interstate 76 around 9:09 a.m. after he allegedly failed to move over for a stopped emergency vehicle.
- The driver refused to exit the vehicle when ordered by troopers and became combative, during which one of the BMW's windows was broken trying to remove him, CSP said.
- While fleeing, the driver struck a trooper with his BMW and fled eastbound on I-76, taking the southbound exit onto Sable Boulevard toward 104th Avenue, CSP said.
- The injured trooper was taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation of non-life-threatening injuries, while the pursuing patrol vehicle skidded into the center concrete median and became disabled, and the second trooper went to the hospital as a precaution.
- Colorado State Patrol said troopers are searching for the BMW driver accused of failing to yield and striking a trooper Thursday morning, and the driver remains at large.
