Susanna Hoffs Announces New Solo Album, 'The List'
The 12-song album draws on Hoffs’ life as an artist, wife, businessperson and mother, with collaborations from Greg Leisz and Rufus Wainwright.
- Susanna Hoffs will release her new album, The List, on September 18, marking her first album of all-new material since 2012's Someday. The 12-track collection features collaborations with Rufus Wainwright, Dan Wilson, and Edie Brickell.
- Produced by CJ Camerieri, who previously worked with Paul Simon and Bon Iver, the record sees Hoffs turn "her deepest, decade-spanning memories" into songs. The project emerged after her 2023 novel This Bird Has Flown rejuvenated her songwriting devotion.
- Lead single "Casablanca" draws inspiration from the 1988 film and a surreal New Orleans encounter Hoffs had with Grateful Dead guitarist Bob Weir. Hoffs co-wrote the track with Wilson and Camerieri, combining droning tones with melodic lines.
- Hoffs hits the road starting September 5 in Los Angeles, with dates across the United States through the fall. The tour includes a five-night residency at New York City's Cafe Carlyle from September 24 to 26.
- The album positions Hoffs as an artist channeling her "keen powers of observation" into statements on resilience and self-discovery. At 67, her winsome voice remains unchanged from the Bangles era, now applied to decade-spanning personal narratives.
