The purchase of data from address publishers for credit assessment is not permitted according to the rulings of the Supreme Court (OGH).
Credit rating without real information about payment behaviour is permitted in Austria. The local Supreme Court has only something against address trading.
The CRIF credit agency is said to have illegally acquired data from private individuals for years. The Supreme Court came to this conclusion. Those affected could be entitled to up to EUR 500 in compensation.
