Sumpter goes into High Fire Danger with restrictions in place

SUMPTER — Firefighters with the Sumpter Volunteer and Powder River Rural fire departments were able to extinguish a fire in Sumpter on Wednesday. Officials reported through the Sumpter Oregon “The Perfect Getaway” social media page that the fire was burning near Whistle Stop RV Park, adjacent to the train tracks. A cause of the fire was not listed. Beginning Friday, June 19th, Sumpter will enter into “High Fire Danger” with restrictions in place…
