Drought Stress Adding to Major Oak’s Challenges

SHERWOOD FOREST, NOTTINGHAMSHIRE, UK, JUL 16 – The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds leads a recovery program using scientific advice and soil treatments to combat drought and soil compaction threatening the 1,000-year-old tree.

The recent heatwave is bringing an additional challenge to care for one of the nation’s most famous and beloved trees, based here in Nottinghamshire.
