- UN figures show that between March and October about 1.2 million returned to Khartoum while basic services barely function and rehabilitation is estimated at $350m.

While Sudan has spent this weekend the symbolic milestone of the 1,000 days of civil war, the Prime Minister announced on Sunday, 11 January, the official return of the government to the capital, Khartoum. Loyalist forces had been driven out by the paramilitaries of the Forces de soutien rapide (FSR) in April 2023 before regaining control of it after two years of fighting.
