Sudan: IOM - 200k+ Displaced Across Kordofan As Fighting Intensifies
El Obeid / Sheikan Locality / Heiban Locality -- More than 200,000 people have been displaced across Sudan's Kordofan region since the end of 2025 as fighting between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) intensifies, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) said.
The state of North Kordofan is now at the center of the conflict in Sudan, where its inhabitants face blackouts, food shortages and water shortages and the constant fear of drone attacks.
Under frequent drone attacks, the city of El-Obeid faces a collapse of its water and energy supply; the situation exacerbates the humanitarian crisis in the region and accelerates the exodus of civilians.
