Successor of the Science Foundation Will Be Able to Recruit Specialists and Pay Competitive Wages

The future Research and Innovation Agency (AI2), which replaces the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), will have a state funding of at least EUR 3 billion for the first programme contract, between 2026 and 2031. AI2 will have the status of an Entrepreneurship (EPE), and will then have autonomy to recruit specialists with salaries higher than the Public Administration table.
