The new low station in Stuttgart will only be gradually put into operation in a different way than previously planned. This was announced by Deutsche Bahn after a meeting of the steering group for the project "Stuttgart 21". Accordingly, the low station is to open in December 2026 and be used by long-distance trains as well as part of regional transport.
Time and again, the launch of the mega project in the Baden-Württemberg state capital was postponed. Now, from December 2026 trains are scheduled to stop at the new low station - but not all of them.
The old Stuttgart main station will also be served by trains in 2027. This is what the railway announced. However, ICE trains are scheduled to travel through the new low station as early as December 2026.
The railway announces the next delay in the Stuttgart 21 megaproject. Part of the regional traffic is scheduled to end in two years at the old head station. At another point, however, it seems to be going according to plan.
