The Ghent Student Council is opposing the announced student housing tax of 190 euros per year. According to them, this will make living in student housing even more unaffordable for approximately 40,000 student housing students. "We are completely taken aback," says Emiel Verbeeren, chairman of the Ghent Student Council. "There is regular consultation with the city, but this decision has never been discussed there."
