The Dutch fashion chain Omoda is acquiring Wehkamp from British investor Apax Partners. With this proposed acquisition by Omoda Brands, Wehkamp will return to Dutch hands after eleven years. Although Wehkamp still made an operational profit last year, it ended up in the red due to a €89 million write-off in goodwill.

Fashion group Omoda is acquiring Wehkamp from British investor Apax Partners. This means that after eleven years, the loss-making online department store is once again returning to Dutch ownership. Omoda, Assem, Wehkamp, and kleertjes.com will now operate under one roof.
During the family meeting in Zierikzee, the decision was made: the smaller Omoda is buying the much larger Wehkamp. In doing so, the thriving fashion chain is acquiring a well-known but loss-making online shop. Why would a Zeeland family business take such a step? "We are buying an icon."
