Stree 3 Release Date Delayed to 2028: Dinesh Vijan Promises Everything Fans Love, but ‘Where It Ends’ Will Shock Them
Dinesh Vijan said the horror-comedy sequel may arrive on Independence Day or Christmas, following the strong box office run of Stree 2.
- At FICCI Frames, producer Dinesh Vijan confirmed that Stree 3 will release in 2028, with Rajkummar Rao returning to the lead role and a possible arrival on Independence Day or Christmas.
- Directed by Amar Kaushik, the franchise grew from a small-budget independent film in 2018 into a horror-comedy success, with Rao recalling the team's immense faith in the story and camaraderie that fueled Stree 2's box office performance.
- Vijan revealed that Kaushik has finished writing the script, promising audiences will experience everything they loved about the franchise while plot specifics remain secret. "Everything that you have loved about it, you'll get it, but where it starts and where it ends will be a complete revelation," Vijan said.
- Before returning to the horror franchise, Kaushik will direct Mahavatar, an ambitious film starring Vicky Kaushal as Bhagwan Parshuram, with production scheduled to begin at the end of next year.
- Separately, Rao will star in Prahaar, portraying special public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam in a film depicting the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, arriving in theaters on October 16.
