Strangers cover Texas family's dog's entire vet bill after porcupine attack
Strangers donated within minutes and covered the full veterinary bill after Deuce suffered one of the most severe porcupine quill injuries vets had seen.
Texas dog Deuce was rushed to a veterinary clinic after a porcupine attack, where veterinarians said it was one of the most severe cases of quills they had ever seen.
Facing an expensive veterinary bill, Asia Guetzkow posted a request on the Abilene Helping Hands Facebook page, hoping the community could help cover Deuce's medical costs.
Within minutes, the community responded to the post, and donations from strangers poured in, covering the entire veterinary bill for Deuce.
The veterinary clinic had to turn away donations by the end of the day, while Guetzkow said people continued checking on Deuce's recovery.
"The community being so willing to help us—it meant so much," Guetzkow said, noting that Abilene is a good community where strangers show kindness without hesitation.
