Strait Shores mayor resigns, no replacement until 2026

Strait Shores was created in the 2023 municipal amalgamation of Port Elgin, Cape Tormentine and surrounding areas. The municipality’s chief administrative officer, Donna Hipditch, told Brunswick News on Thursday that Mayor Jason Stokes resigned on Feb. 14. More than a week later, on Feb. 24, councillors Stacy Jones and Tanya Haynes sent in their resignation via email, but it had not been signed.
