Dynacom Newbuild Among at Least Four Tankers Attacked in Hormuz

UK Maritime Trade Operations said the 6-week-old tanker’s engine room was hit and the crew were safe as investigators examined the attack.

  • On October 4, the Liberian-flagged Lipsi, a tanker managed by Dynacom Tankers Management, was struck by an "unknown projectile" in the Strait of Hormuz, leaving the vessel disabled and drifting.
  • The latest strike marks the third Dynacom-managed tanker reported hit in the wider Hormuz area in less than three months, as Procopiou's fleet remains unusually active in the Gulf despite repeated attacks this year.
  • Built by Shanhaiguan Shipbuilding in China, the 115,000-dwt Lipsi was delivered to Dynacom on August 24, 2026, just six weeks before the attack and measures approximately 250 metres long.
  • The UK Maritime Trade Operations centre issued Warning 150-26, placing the vessel 3.9 nautical miles northeast of Jazirat Um Al Fayarin, while Dynacom confirmed all crew members are safe and no pollution was reported.
  • Security conditions around the Strait have deteriorated, with other vessels including the 306,000-dwt Acheloos and the Malta-flagged Kavomaleas struck by projectiles earlier this year; neither the projectile type nor the party responsible for the October 4 attack has been established.
