Straight to the Pool Room: Beloved Comedy Goes Onstage
The Working Dog creators are adding new jokes and contemporary references while keeping the film’s favorite scenes and characters.
- On Tuesday, the Michael Cassel Group and Working Dog announced that the 1997 classic The Castle will debut as a stage production at Her Majesty's Theatre in Melbourne from March 27, 2027, marking 30 years since the film's release.
- Original creators Rob Sitch, Tom Gleisner, Santo Cilauro, and Jane Kennedy are writing and producing the show, having spent more than 25 years developing the concept to include new gags and contemporary updates.
