Europe's flagship electronic chip maker has reported weak financial results for the second quarter of 2025. The company, which employs nearly 11,500 people in France, has been hit by the decline in demand for electric cars, for which it supplies semiconductors. However, its CEO believes it is back on a growth trajectory.
The Franco-Italian group will buy the MEMS sensor business of its American competitor NXP Semiconductors. The amount of the transaction could rise to $950 million.
