Stewart Cink has 1-shot lead over Padraig Harrington going into final round of US Senior Open
Stewart Cink shot a 64 on Saturday to take a one-stroke lead at 9-under 201 over defending champion Padraig Harrington at the U.S. Senior Open at Scioto Country Club.
This pairing repeats last year's final-round duel at The Broadmoor, where Harrington edged Cink by one shot to secure his second national senior championship title.
Rookie George McNeill joins the final group at 7-under 203, while Miguel Angel Jimenez sits three shots back at 6-under 204 in the $4 million championship.
Forecast rain for Sunday's final round may alter strategy; Cink said, "Whatever score that leads to, part of my mantra is I have to be willing to accept that."
Cink aims to become the first player to win the first three senior majors in one calendar year, building on four victories on the Champions Tour this season.
