Steve Kerr Agrees to a Two-Year Deal to Continue Coaching the Warriors, AP Source Says
Steve Kerr has agreed to a two-year contract extension to remain head coach of the Golden State Warriors, sources told ESPN, maintaining his status as the highest-paid coach in the NBA.
Since taking over in 2014, Kerr has guided the franchise to four NBA titles in 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2022, holding a career coaching record of 604-353 over his 12-year tenure.
The extension signals the team intends to contend again with Stephen Curry , Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green , all on expiring contracts in 2026-27.
Managing significant injuries to Butler and Curry, the Warriors finished 37-45 this season; general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. must now address roster deficiencies to remain competitive in the Western Conference.
Three weeks of negotiations preceded the agreement, ending speculation that Kerr might step down; his return secures leadership stability as the franchise evaluates its future beyond the next two seasons.
