Steve Jobs to Be Honored on 2026 American Innovation $1 Coin
The coin honors Steve Jobs' transformative impact on technology and innovation in California as part of a series celebrating U.S. innovations since 2018.
- For next year, the United States Mint revealed Apple co-founder Steve Jobs will appear on a California coin in the American Innovation $1 Coin Program, inscribed with UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, CALIFORNIA, STEVE JOBS and MAKE SOMETHING WONDERFUL.
- Since 2018, the American Innovation $1 Coin Program has honored innovation across the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and five U.S. territories, with Governor Gavin Newsom, Governor of California, recommending Steve Jobs for the state's coin.
- The Mint's design shows a young Steve Jobs seated before oak-covered northern California hills, crafted by Elana Hagler, coin designer, and sculpted by Phebe Hemphill; Jobs foresaw a ChatGPT-like product decades earlier.
- The U.S. Mint will offer the coin soon on its website, selling for $13.25 or in a four-coin set for $27.50, with options for bags of 25 or 100 coins.
- Alongside Jobs, the 2026 designs include Dr. Norman Borlaug , Cray-1 Supercomputer , and mobile refrigeration , continuing a series that featured the lightbulb, the Hubble Space Telescope, and George Washington Carver.
