‘Stay out of the bay’: Smack of red, stinging jellyfish invade Melbourne’s beaches

Victorian beaches have been inundated by an unusually large number of bright red jellyfish with a painful sting, sparking a warning to cover up in the water or avoid swimming over the Australia Day long weekend. Thousands of lion’s mane jellyfish are clustered around the shoreline of inner-city beaches, the Mornington Peninsula and other coastal areas.
