Statement from the Gendarmerie regarding the earthquake in Balıkesir
Following the 6.1 magnitude earthquake that occurred in the Sındırgı district of Balıkesir, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı announced that no problems were found in the inspections carried out at dams in Balıkesir and neighboring provinces.
Earth scientist Prof. Dr. Naci Görür issued a warning to citizens following the 6.1 magnitude earthquake in Balıkesir. In his post, Görür said, "It's not a minor earthquake, but there may be damage. I don't think it will be a larger earthquake. Stay away from home for a while."
