MICHIGAN, AUG 5 – Ashanta Butler was dismissed after reporting coworkers stealing SNAP benefits from a program serving 1.3 million low-income Michigan residents, highlighting ongoing fraud and retaliation.

A Michigan woman claims the state fired her from her job of 23 years for exposing a scheme to steal money from the state’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP.
