State Sen. Louise Lucas was wiretapped by the FBI, court docs state
The monitoring was tied to a corruption probe into Sen. L. Louise Lucas, and no charges have been filed, officials said.
- On Thursday, Rep. Suhas Subramanyam revealed that federal authorities monitored his phone conversations with Virginia State Senator L. Louise Lucas as part of a corruption investigation.
- The FBI has been investigating Lucas for alleged bribery and corruption, executing court-approved searches of her Portsmouth office and a nearby business in May.
- Describing the wiretaps as "extremely suspicious," Subramanyam noted they coincided with Virginia's redistricting referendum campaign and House Oversight Committee hearings on former Attorney General Pam Bondi.
- Calling the DOJ "his own personal law firm," Subramanyam accused President Donald Trump of targeting political enemies and vowed to continue investigations into the administration.
- No charges have been filed against Lucas, and it remains unclear whether the wiretaps were related to the earlier May raid of her offices.
