State funds 36 projects turning old tires into park equipment

The grants will fund benches, picnic tables and playground surfaces while helping Kentucky manage about five million scrap tires a year.

Beshear announced on Tuesday more than $1.3 million in funding has been awarded for projects that will transform recycled waste tires into safe, durable products for playgrounds and public parks.
