Residents served by Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN) water systems will be subject to the region’s highest level of water conservation beginning Friday as drought conditions continue to affect local water supplies.

Low groundwater levels prompt Nanaimo, B.C. to declare Stage 4 water restrictions

Nanaimo, B.C. – Below-average groundwater levels in some area aquifers as well as low flow in local rivers and streams has prompted the Regional District of Nanaimo to step up its water restrictions to Stage 4. This means lawn watering and the filling of pools and hot tubs is prohibited. Certain exemptions are in place, but the new restriction take effect starting Friday until further notice.
