In Maribor, an eighty-year-old pensioner received a fine of 104 euros for playing the piano in her apartment in the middle of the day.

Barbara Bradač, in her commentary on When Beethoven Becomes a Misdemeanor, writes about a case in which the police fined an 80-year-old woman for making noise while playing the piano in her own apartment during the day. This case should not only be a source of outrage, but should also encourage us to consider how to balance legal regulation with humanity, the author believes.
