- Dr. Richard Jennings, group chief medical officer at Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust , offered "sincere apologies" for the harm, while the trust reviews care for more than 200 patients.
- Varney remains under General Medical Council investigation with practice restrictions, though recent leadership changes have improved governance and team dynamics, positioning the respiratory team to drive meaningful improvements.
