St. Bonaventure sees influx of transfers added to basketball roster
The Bonnies added six transfers as Mike MacDonald rebuilds after a 17-17 season and the loss of four seniors and seven portal departures.
- On Sunday, St. Bonaventure announced the addition of former Penn State forward Mason Blackwood to its roster, capping an eventful week for the Bonnies with six total transfers under new head coach Mike MacDonald.
- Head coach Mike MacDonald, hired on March 31 to replace Mark Schmidt, is rebuilding the roster following a 17-17 season, as the team replaces four seniors and seven players who entered the transfer portal.
- Joining Blackwood are Akbar Waheed III, Zach Philipkoski, Benjamin Bill, Taj Au-Duke, and Ryan Kalambay, additions for an Olean program that finished 4-14 in Atlantic play.
- With four years of eligibility remaining, Mason Blackwood is expected to be a building block for the revamped Bonnies.
- MacDonald previously led Daemen to a 265-86 record over 12 seasons and is the only coach to win 100 games at the NCAA Division I, II, and III levels.
