Springfield City Council decision to abandon street paves way for mosque building

SPRINGFIELD – The City Council voted last week to abandon a small swath of vacant land in the Forest Park neighborhood and will turn it over to two religious organizations.The 13-0 vote put to end a debate that erupted in a shouting match between City Council President Tracye Whitfield and Councilor Victor Davila, who represents the ward where the land is located.
