UNITED KINGDOM, JUL 17 – Spotify's new Audiobooks+ add-ons double monthly listening hours and extend access to Family and Duo plan members, aiming to expand its subscriber base by millions globally, the company said.
- On July 16, 2025, Spotify launched two new Audiobooks+ add-on subscriptions across 11 European markets as well as Australia and New Zealand.
- To support longer listening preferences, Spotify emphasized its goal to create optimal experiences for book enthusiasts and strengthen its role as a comprehensive audio platform.
- Family and Duo plan members gain access to audiobook hours when their manager purchases the add-on, with 10-hour top-ups available when their allocations run out.
- According to Spotify's own data, users who start audiobooks show increased engagement, and U.S. users average five extra hours on the platform in their first two months.
- Spotify told Engadget that the add-ons will launch in the U.S. in the coming weeks with pricing to be announced, and independent authors using Findaway Voices are slated to gain access in early 2025.
