SpaceX Launches Amazon Kuiper Satellites in 100th 2025 Mission
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA, AUG 11 – After four weather delays, SpaceX launched 24 Amazon Kuiper satellites, bringing the constellation to 102 and advancing global broadband goals ahead of FCC deadlines.
- On Monday, August 11, 2025, SpaceX successfully launched a Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral, deploying two dozen satellites for Amazon’s Project Kuiper mission into low Earth orbit.
- The launch followed two previous attempts that were scrubbed due to bad weather affecting booster recovery in the Atlantic Ocean, as forecasted by the Space Force’s 45th Weather Squadron.
- The Falcon 9's booster completed its first flight and successfully touched down about nine minutes after launch on SpaceX’s offshore drone vessel named A Shortfall of Gravitas, representing the 120th successful booster recovery on that platform.
- Amazon currently operates over 100 Kuiper satellites in orbit, and CEO Andy Jassy highlighted that the service has secured numerous enterprise and government customers to help bridge the digital divide.
- This launch advances Amazon’s goal to build a global broadband network delivering affordable, low-latency internet, with plans to continue satellite deployments throughout 2025 and 2026.
