Triple Child Killer Accused of Throwing Boiling Sugar Water at Prison Officer

- On Monday, Axel Rudakubana appeared via video link at Westminster Magistrates' Court facing four charges relating to alleged violent incidents at Belmarsh prison while serving a 52-year sentence for the Southport attack.
- Prosecutor Catherine Pattison detailed allegations that Rudakubana threw "boiling water mixed with sugar" at a prison officer and possessed sharpened stone shards found in his cell at Belmarsh.
- Additional accusations include Rudakubana threatening to "soak" a female officer with an "unknown liquid" in May 2025 and punching a male guard in October 2025, though the court heard "prompt medical attention prevented lasting injury."
- Remanded in custody, Rudakubana will next appear at the Old Bailey on October 19, having attended the hearing via video link from Broadmoor psychiatric hospital.
- Under the Mental Health Act, Broadmoor manages offenders who cannot be safely held in prison, costing taxpayers more than £300,000 annually and having previously housed high-profile criminals including Peter Sutcliffe.
