ISP: Hanover Woman Charged After Crash Killed Her 6-Year-Old Daughter
SCOTT COUNTY, INDIANA, AUG 1 – Dorothy J. Snell faces multiple felony charges including neglect and intoxicated driving after a crash that killed her daughter and injured four others, authorities said.
- At the intersection of State Road 256 and U.S. 31, Dorothy J. Snell, 25, allegedly ran a red light and collided with a Toyota, killing her six-year-old daughter.
- Investigator found that Snell’s Chrysler was speeding and her blood alcohol exceeded 0.08%, and the six-year-old was not in a booster or safety seat.
- First responders reported that six people, including a child, were taken to area hospitals with nonlife-threatening injuries after the crash.
- On July 30, Indiana State Police troopers arrested Dorothy J. Snell and transported her to Scott County Jail with a $250,000 cash bond.
- The case remains under investigation by the Indiana State Police with assistance from Scott County authorities, and she is scheduled for her initial court appearance today.
