After this summer's extreme drought, the province of South Holland set aside 7.5 million euros in the budget to tackle this problem. “We feel the urgency to invest in this, to be resilient to weather extremes,” says deputy Robert Tieman (finance, BBB). With this money, the province wants to take measures that “limit the consequences of future periods of drought”.
