SunExpress Further Reduces Its Carbon Footprint by Equipping Entire 737-800 Fleet with VCT Finlets
- SunExpress announced on June 3, 2025, from Antalya and Seattle that it will equip its entire Boeing 737-800 Next Generation fleet with VCT Finlets.
- The decision comes after a year-long operational trial of VCT Finlets, aerodynamic devices created by Vortex Control Technologies that decrease drag and boost fuel economy.
- The fins modify airflow to increase range, climb performance, and overall endurance, and phase one began in May 2024 equipping five aircraft, with phase two covering over 40 more.
- SunExpress operates flights on 237 routes spanning 35 countries, transporting close to 15 million travelers each year, while achieving fuel savings exceeding 4.4 million gallons and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by more than 95 million pounds.
- This initiative supports SunExpress' carbon reduction goals and commitment to responsible operations, as noted by COO Cemil Sayar and VCT CEO Gil Morgan as accelerating sustainable aviation.
