Chiefs assistant Eric Bieniemy’s son charged in shooting of his mother in Virginia, authorities say
Police charged Elijah Bieniemy with multiple felonies after his mother, Mia Bieniemy, was hospitalized with serious injuries from a shooting, sources said.
Mia Bieniemy, 57, was hospitalized after being shot at her home in Ashburn, Virginia, on Sunday evening, sources told ESPN.
At 7:32 p.m. Sunday, Loudoun County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to the 20000 block of Northpark Drive in Ashburn, confirming a victim was treated for 'serious injuries.'
Elijah Bieniemy, the son of Eric and Maria Bieniemy, was arrested and charged with three felonies including malicious wounding and discharging a firearm within a building.
The Kansas City Chiefs stated they are 'aware of the incident involving Eric Bieniemy's family' and confirmed that Bieniemy is currently away from the team.
Bieniemy rejoined the Chiefs earlier this year as offensive coordinator, a role he held from 2018 to 2022, and had been with the team in Missouri for training camp Sunday.
